Give it another tri

Hello! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Seeing as this is finals week, I should have been studying the entire time, but Delta Gamma had other things in mind. For whatever reason, they chose this weekend for Presents (where you get presented to your families as a DG by your Big ;)), so my mom flew in from Texas on Friday. We ate at a few superb restaurants in Davis and Sacramento and went to the Presents luncheon on Saturday.

The new members, I am top middle

After she left on Sunday, I studied, went for a run, and studied some more. Today was more studying and a swim! I have decided that I want to get back into triathlon training… I think. I don’t plan on ever being as hardcore as I used to be, but I miss swimming and cycling. Mainly swimming. Plus, joining the UCD triathlon team would be a great way to meet more people. Triathlon seems to attract people who are pretty intense and unique, and UCSB’s team offered me some good friendships. Today’s workout was extremely simple:

Getting Back Into It Pool Workout

1500 swim

10 x 50 Β fast, 10-15 second break

100 swim

300 kick

100 cool down

And what powered this workout? Why Chocolate Coconut Oatmeal of course!

Recipe: Serves 1

1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup water

2 tsp cocoa powder (quality is key!)

pinch salt

a few drops vanilla extract

dash cinnamon

1-2 tbsp Artisana coconut butter

1 tbsp coconut shreds

Directions – Combine all the ingredients except the coconut butter in a bowl. Microwave for 90 seconds. Top with coconut butter and more coconut shreds and enjoy.

Once again, Im sorry for all the bowl food. I swear I have been eating things off of plates too… I will post some real recipes soon!

  1. Weee, congrats on your presents!! Good thing you pointed out where you were in the pic, because I sure couldn’t find you!
Anywho, it’s funny that you mention missing swimming, because I started missing it today too. I don’t know if I’m just antsy from sitting around and studying but I felt like moving in a pool today, and I haven’t been in a pool for over a year!

  2. Wow-you guys have a big sorority! You all look beautiful, though πŸ˜‰

I love the chocolate+coconut combo-especially on oatmeal! And of course, it has to be bitter chocolate-right?

  3. Your sorority is big! I joined a sorority this semester too (and as a junior), and we only had 13 in my pledge class. Granted I go to a smaller school, but the maximum amount of girls we can have in the sorority at one time is 40!

    1. Oh wow, that is small! But I bet that is nice, it would be more personal and tight knit. I dont know most of the girls in DG! I have gotten to know the pledge class the best, and they are pretty awesome πŸ™‚

  4. Sounds like a great weekend with your mom in town! I’m thinking about trying to start swimming in the spring – I have never been a strong swimmer and I’m sure have terrible form (if any form at all!), but I think I should give it a whirl. Also, most of my meal lately have been in bowls!

  5. A) You have a sexy pledge class but of course you win.
    B) I really need to start copying all of your recipes and passing them off as my own. You’re a food genius.
    C) I really need to stop procrastinating by coming to your blog. It just makes me hungry.

  6. mmm. that’s so sweet of your mom to fly out there for you!! good luck with your tri training..sounds like fun..i love swimming laps!!!

  7. How cute are all you girls in your white dresses- love it!

I am in awe of anyone who is a strong swimmer- my personal best stroke is the doggie paddle and the ‘can’t get my hair wet’ stroke πŸ™‚

  8. You all look so beautiful in your dresses. Gorgeous! My husband is a swimmer, but I always tire out. I need to train! Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a lovely evening!
